About the Book:
Joy Russo loves chaos. From her life as a busy reporter to her brawling, coffee-obsessed Italian family, there’s nothing she loves more than her messy, little life. Then the weird, slightly out-of-this-world Aurora Sparks arrives, whose life seems to revolve around creating order out of chaos.
The two of them have somehow ended up as roommates in the small Upstate New York town of Bent River, and the old adage that says “opposite attract” couldn’t be further from the truth! Sparks fly & tempers flare as each young lady tries to deal with the other’s eccentricities while not compromising their own values. Much easier said than done.
But when a man is found dead and Joy’s father is the prime suspect, the two must put aside their differences if they want to help him. They soon find that Joy’s tough, no-nonsense demeanour and Aurora’s ordered, structured nature perfectly complement each other when it comes to ferreting out clues. And, thankfully so, as the danger threatens to escalate unless they can sort through the facts and solve this mystery in a hurry!

I went into this book so excited – I run my own business and one of the services I offer is helping people to declutter when things seem a little overwhelming for them so this seemed like the PERFECT series for me and I wasn’t disappointed!
I loved the setting – a little town in the middle of nowhere, where everybody knows each other (it reminds me of the town that I live in) and the difficulties you can face when you are the newbie in town and everyone is just a little weary of you! The characters were well fleshed out; I did feel that the 2 main characters, Aurora and Joy, were a little more antagonistic towards each other than I would imagine, but it fitted with the overall storyline so that it didn’t annoy me or take away from the story as a whole.
I, like Aurora, was excited when she started working for Max and had the task of sorting his paperwork – I WOULD ADORE THIS JOB TOO! I would have liked a little more description around the decluttering but then I am a little bit of a decluttering nut, so that’s just me!
I loved the storyline – misunderstanding, secrets, pulling wool over everyone’s eyes .. but it all comes out in the end and the perpetrators are brought to justice! The author has already written and released the next 2 books in the series, which I already have my hands on and m planning reviews for in the very near future!
I would recommend to anyone that likes an easy to read, cosy mystery style book, especially if, like me you love a bit of decluttering on the side too!
